Thornton Veterans Memorial News - June 28, 2006
Welcome to everyone on our email news list!
It is time once again to update everyone on the latest with the Thornton
Veterans Memorial.
Our online store is open! As of today, our online store is open for
business. We have a lot of great merchandise available for sale including
clothing items embroidered with the memorial logo, "flashing pins,"
donations with certificates of appreciation and more. As always, all
proceeds from the sale of merchandise goes to the Foundation and the
construction of the memorial. When

Join Us for a "Salute to the Troops" on the 4th of July. In conjunction
with the city of Thornton, we are planning a very special tribute to all
past and present Thornton residents who have served in the armed forces at
the city's 4th of July celebration. A giant screen presentation will display
their pictures and stories and help remind everyone of the sacrifices that
have been made for our nation. Also, look for our tent on the south side of
the field - we will be showcasing the latest renderings of the memorial as
well as have some cool stuff for sale to help support the memorial! Should
you require more information, feel free to contact the

Veterans Memorial Foundation.
TVMF in the news! Since our last email newsletter, the memorial was
featured in an article in the Northglenn-Thornton Sentinel. Click
<http://www.thorntonveteranspark.org/news/articles/2006-05-25-Sentinel.pdf>
here to view the article in PDF format. We certainly appreciate the
publicity and all of the help we have received from the Sentinel but
unfortunately there were some errors in the article. Please note our
comments:
* The headline refers to the Thornton Veterans' Memorial as a
"tribute garden". That is not what the memorial is to be called. In fact,
that is the name of a memorial in a neighboring city.
* The article states the memorial will be open on Memorial Day 2007.
That is incorrect. No hard opening date has been set. We are however
tentatively planning a ground breaking for Memorial Day 2007 and an
dedication / grand opening on Veterans Day 2007.
* The article says the service satellite monuments will have
"painted scenes". That is incorrect - nothing will be painted. The monuments
will have quality bronze relief's.
See what is happening on our event calendar! We have added an event
calendar that shows all of our meetings and TVMF related functions. We will
also keep it up to date with other veterans' related events. To view the
calendar, just click the Event Calendar link in the Action Center section of
any page on our web site. If you have an event that you think should be
listed, please let us know <mailto:events at thorntonveteransmemorial.org> !
Make a contribution online! We have setup an online donation system -
contributions of any size are appreciated! Contributions via credit can be
made in a matter of seconds - it is fast, easy and secure - not to mention,
tax deductible! Click here for
