Thornton Veterans Memorial News - June 2008
With the unofficial start of summer past us, we find ourselves consumed with
preparations for the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall event.
Please join us from July 3 to July 7 when the Vietnam Traveling Memorial
Wall Comes to Thornton. Excitement continues to build across the
metropolitan area as this very special event draws nearer. The Wall itself
is but one part of four days of events and activities honoring our veterans
and those that have paid the ultimate sacrifice. To learn more about the
event, please click here: http://www.thorntonveteransmemorial.org/news/wall
cid:image003.gif at 01C78251.EA630BF0 The Chrysler Foundation becomes Host
Sponsor of Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall event. The Chrysler LLC Denver
Business Center has donated $8,500, on behalf of The Chrysler Foundation, to
the Thornton Veterans Memorial Foundation in support of the Vietnam
Traveling Memorial Wall event. In doing so, The Chrysler Foundation will be
the host sponsor for the event from July 3rd to July 7th 2008. The Denver
Business Center and local Chrysler, Jeep R and Dodge dealers sought support
from The Chrysler Foundation when they learned of this significant event and
the Thornton Veterans Memorial Foundation project. We very excited to have
such a generous contribution to the event and we thank The Chrysler
Foundation.
cid:image003.gif at 01C78251.EA630BF0 Area organizations and businesses
support Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall event. In addition to The Chrysler
Foundation, a number of other area businesses and civic organizations have
recently become sponsors of the Vietnam Traveling Memorial Wall event and we
thank them for their support. Colorado Doorways, Inc., Disabled American
Veterans, Golf Tournaments, Inc., Kaplan College the National Guard,
Geospatial Experts and the Northglenn / Thornton Rotary Club join previous
donors and sponsors in helping to support this extraordinary event and we
thank them all! If your company or organization would be interested in
sponsoring the event and supporting our veterans, please see here:

cid:image003.gif at 01C78251.EA630BF0 Volunteers for Vietnam Traveling
Memorial Wall Event Needed. With the announcement of the Wall coming to
Thornton, we are seeking volunteers to help us with the event as it will
draw thousands of visitors. You can help with any number of tasks including
setting up and taking down the wall, daytime staffing to work the computer
and assist visitors (guest services), and much more. If you would be
interested in volunteering, please email us at
info at thorntonveteransmemorial.org. We would appreciate your help!
cid:image003.gif at 01C78251.EA630BF0 Tax rebates present a great opportunity
to support the memorial! As the federal government continues to send out
checks as part of the economic stimulus plan that was recently passed by
Congress. This free money from the government is a great chance for those
in the community to help support a worthy cause - the Thornton Veterans
Memorial. As you know, our project is entirely privately funded - we
receive no public money - and we are dependent on the generosity of our
supporters. Please consider using part of your rebate to support the
Thornton Veterans Memorial - it can't be done without you! Donations can be
made online by clicking the orange "donate" button at
www.thorntonveteransmemorial.org or you can mail them to Thornton Veterans
Memorial Foundation, PO Box 29592, Thornton, CO 80229. Remember too that
you can purchase paver bricks at our store! Thank you as always for your
support!
cid:image003.gif at 01C78251.EA630BF0 Next Meeting, Monday, June 16 @ 7:00pm
at the Northglenn Elks. Our meetings are normally held on the first Monday
of the month. With preparations for the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall in
full swing, we will be meeting on this special date. This project is a
community project and we wholeheartedly encourage anyone who is interested
to attend to learn more and if so inclined, to join us in helping to make
the project a reality.
As always, if you have any questions, comments or suggestions, please don't
hesitate to contact us! Thank you for your continued support!
